UK-based Sky Studios has launched the non-scripted, Los Angeles-based prodco Catalina Content and appointed veteran producer Jeff Collins as president.
The news comes just a few weeks after Collins departed prodco Collins Avenue, which he co-founded in 2009.
Collins (pictured) will oversee all creative — from development to current — and be tasked with creating character-driven and female-skewing programming, as well as entertainment formats for broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.
New appointments to the company’s headquarters are expected to be announced in the future.
Catalina Content is the latest addition to Sky Studios’ non-scripted portfolio, which includes Jupiter Entertainment (Snapped; ID Murder Mystery), Love Productions (The Great American Baking Show), Znak & Co (Fox’s upcoming Ultimate Tag) and documentary, factual and scripted producer Talos Films.
“I’ve launched a company from the ground up, so I know what an exciting adventure it is. With the backing and support of a global, creative giant like Sky Studios, this new chapter will be exponentially more spectacular across the board. I am humbled by the opportunity and can’t wait to join such a great stable of producers,” Collins said in a statement.
Throughout his career, Collins has produced unscripted series such as Bridezillas (WeTV), Billy the Exterminator (A&E), American Colony Meet the Hutterites (National Geographic), eight seasons of Dance Moms (Lifetime), Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition (Lifetime), Raising Asia (Lifetime), Dance Moms Miami (Lifetime) and Sisters In Law (Wetv).
Prior to Collins Avenue, which recently switched ownership from Kew Media Group to The Content Group, Collins served as vice president of Leeza Gibbons Enterprises at Paramount Studios where he was responsible for documentary and specials programming.
