Catalina Content, the Sky Studios-owned unscripted prodco led by Jeff Collins, is partnering with actor Mira Sorvino on a new docuseries about human trafficking.
Transformation Ranch will follow survivors of trafficking as they receive expert-led animal therapy at a family-run 200-acre ranch outside of LA. The partnership also includes Sorvino’s husband, actor and writer Christopher Backus, and her sister, animal rescue charity founder Amanda Sorvino. Oscar winner Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite) is actively involved in fighting human trafficking, having served as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador since 2009. Amanda Sorvino is a respected animal rescuer and seasoned undercover investigator who has been instrumental in shutting down enterprises that abuse animals.
Collins, president of Catalina Content, said: “There are over 25 types of modern slavery right here in the US, and it is the second fastest-growing crime in the world. There has never been a more important time to document this tragedy.” Mira Sorvino added: “The ranch will provide a resource for them to continue to achieve their full potential in the life they were born for, not the one that was brutally thrust upon them. We are hoping that engaging in professional therapy with some of the extraordinary animals my sister Amanda has devoted her life to rescuing will provide them with what my overcomer friend describes as ‘next level healing.’”
Collins set up Catalina Content with backing from Sky Studios a year ago, having previously departed Dance Moms-producer Collins Avenue.
